Background & Foundation

MHD FC builds on an existing community of over 100 current and former players from across the North Shore, with strong roots in Marblehead and surrounding towns including Salem, Beverly, Swampscott, Nahant, and Lynn.

This group has been connected for years through regular pickup games, participation in the Over The Hill Soccer League (across multiple age groups), and an active network of WhatsApp groups that support both weekly play and team-based communication. Beyond playing, the group has developed a strong social culture centered around shared meals, gatherings, and long-standing relationships.

Several years ago, informal gear drives were organized within this group, collecting unused equipment and distributing it to players in Lynn through a relationship with Lynn Youth Soccer. This work highlighted both the needs within nearby communities and the opportunity to do more in a structured way.

The formation of MHD FC as a nonprofit builds on this foundation—maintaining the culture and community that already exists, while creating a vehicle to expand access to the game for others.

Mission

Marblehead Football Club (MHDFC) is a nonprofit organization committed to expanding access to high-quality soccer training and development for all players.

Our mission is to remove barriers to entry — particularly for youth players from surrounding communities — by reducing financial constraints, improving access to facilities, and providing equipment and resources so every child has the opportunity to grow through the game.

At MHDFC, we believe soccer is more than just a sport. It is a powerful tool for building confidence, fostering resilience, and creating lasting connections. Through dedicated coaching, player development, and a supportive environment, we aim to develop not only better players, but stronger, more confident young people.

Beyond the field, MHDFC strengthens community through events, scholarships, and partnerships that connect Marblehead to the broader soccer landscape.
